The President has signed the Law dated December 4, 2024, No. ZRU-1009 "On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
Criminal Procedure Code is supplemented by Chapter 66, which regulates the procedure for:
- recognizing and enforcing a judgment from a foreign court;
- accepting and transferring a person to a foreign state:
- convicted to imprisonment, for further serving their sentence;
- subject to a compulsory medical measure, for continued mandatory treatment.
In accordance with the procedures established by the CPC and international treaties, a foreign court's decision may be recognized and enforced in Uzbekistan in the following cases:
- the acceptance of a citizen of Uzbekistan, who is serving a prison sentence in a foreign state, to continue serving their sentence in Uzbekistan;
- the acceptance of a citizen of Uzbekistan who committed a socially dangerous act in a foreign state while being insane or who developed a mental disorder after committing the act, regarding whom there is a foreign court's decision on the application of a compulsory medical measure, for undergoing mandatory treatment in Uzbekistan;
- the extradition from a foreign state to Uzbekistan of a person who has been convicted by a foreign court and has not served their sentence;
- the refusal to extradite a citizen of Uzbekistan who has been convicted by a foreign court;
- in other cases provided for by international treaties.
