A teenager has been detained in Bukhara for illegally earning over $2.5 million through cryptocurrency activities.

A criminal case has been initiated against the young man under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which stipulates a prison sentence of three to five years.

During an operational event carried out by the cyber security department of the Interior Ministry of Bukhara Region, a 17-year-old boy from the Jondor district was arrested for illegal cryptocurrency transactions.
The young man engaged in the purchase, transfer, and exchange of crypto assets without the necessary license. As a result, he managed to earn an amount equivalent to 34 billion sums (approximately $2.6 million).
A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of Article 278-8 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Violation of legislation in the field of cryptocurrency circulation), and a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
The penalty for this article includes imprisonment for a period of three to five years.
