On December 18, 2024, the President signed a decree (PP №443) aimed at creating additional conditions for engaging youth in sports. The main initiative of the document is to establish every Thursday of the week as a day for physical education and sports.
Innovations in Sports Education
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, sports schools will operate under new standards. Key changes include:
Specialization of schools: each school will focus on specific sports disciplines.
Positions for talent scouts: coaches for mass sports will be introduced within the staffing framework.
Assignment of territories to coaches: each scout will be allocated up to five neighborhoods and educational institutions for coordinating sports events.
Event organization: coaches will conduct the "Olympics of Five Initiatives" and "Physical Fitness Level" tests in their designated areas.
A New Approach to Sports Boarding Schools
State specialized boarding schools that train athletes in Olympic and national sports will also see changes:
Creation of sports excellence schools: the focus will be on identifying talented youth and preparing candidates for national teams.
Limiting the number of students: vocational schools will accept no more than 150 students in grades 7-11.
Issuance of diplomas: graduates of grade 11 will receive state-standard diplomas.
Free meals: vocational schools will eliminate parental fees for meals.
New Opportunities for Youth
These measures aim to promote sports among the youth, create quality infrastructure for activities, and enhance the physical fitness levels of the younger generation.
