A new culinary street in Tashkent is set to open soon.

A new culinary street is set to open in Tashkent on Sadik Azimov Street. This project was initiated by the Khokimiyat of the Yashnabad district.

In Tashkent, a new gastronomic street will be opened on Sadik Azimov Street. This project, initiated by the Khokimiyat of the Yashnabad district, has transformed an 800-meter stretch between Makhtumquli and Istikbol streets into a modern space for leisure and culinary discoveries.

The official opening is scheduled to take place, as planned, by the end of 2024. Utqir Ulashov, the leading specialist of the Yashnabad district Khokimiyat, noted in a media interview that the choice of this location is due to its advantageous position and developed infrastructure. Currently, more than 33 commercial establishments operate on Sadik Azimov Street, about 10 of which are cafes and restaurants. Twenty-two dining establishments have already confirmed their readiness to operate around the clock.

The project was developed by Urban New Project and the engineering company "Yagona Buyurtmachi Xizmatlari Engineering." A budget of 7 billion sums was allocated for the development of project documentation. The design concept was created by Renaissance Design. The total funding for the construction works, carried out from the republican budget, amounted to 20 billion sums.

As part of the project, extensive landscaping of the area has been conducted. Sidewalks have been widened from 3-4 to 8-13 meters, allowing for comfortable zones for summer terraces of dining establishments. Entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to obtain preferential loans from "Microcredit Bank" for the arrangement of these spaces. According to Utqir Ulashov, several cafe owners have already taken advantage of this opportunity.

In addition to the sidewalk expansions, a workout area, a selfie zone, and two bio-toilets have been installed on the gastronomic street. Furthermore, there are plans to set up 15 additional trading points in lightweight structures. These areas will be offered to entrepreneurs through an auction conducted by the Khokimiyat.

The project also includes the creation of bike lanes and the optimization of traffic flow. The three-lane road has been transformed into a two-lane road, with part of the first lane allocated for parking spaces. Unlike the gastronomic street on Taras Shevchenko, which becomes a pedestrian zone after 8:00 PM, Sadik Azimov Street remains open to vehicle traffic around the clock. This decision, according to the district Khokimiyat specialist, is due to the presence of a large number of residential buildings on this street, whose residents require constant access to their homes.

To ensure safety on the gastronomic street, patrols by the national guard and law enforcement officers have been organized.

The completion of the project on Sadik Azimov Street marks the beginning of the second phase of work—the construction of a tourist alley on Alimkent Street.
