During a session of the Oliy Majlis with the participation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, economic, social, and energy achievements of Uzbekistan were discussed, as reported by Sherzod Asadov, the President's spokesman.
In the past five years, Uzbekistan's economy has doubled, surpassing a historic milestone of $100 billion, while per capita income increased from $1600 in 2018 to $3000. The World Bank included the country among the top three leaders in economic growth in Europe and Central Asia in 2024. The poverty rate decreased from 23% to 11%, with an expected drop to 9% by the end of the year.
Exports have doubled, exceeding $25 billion, foreign currency reserves reached $40 billion, and the volume of foreign investments increased sixfold. This has led to the creation of 1.5 million high-income jobs and ensured that the investment share of GDP stands at 30%.
Significant changes have occurred in the energy sector: electricity production volume increased by 1.5 times (to 83 billion kilowatt-hours), 10 large solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2.7 million kilowatt-hours were commissioned, and the share of alternative energy tripled in the last year.
The social sector has also undergone significant transformation. More than 25,000 private kindergartens and 70 non-state universities have been opened, with preschool education coverage increasing by 74% and higher education by 39%. "People's Centers" have been established to provide over 100 social services locally.
At the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, Uzbek athletes won a record 39 medals, including 18 gold. The President called these achievements historic and expressed confidence that they will inspire the country to new accomplishments.
“Naturally, such achievements, which have never been seen in the history of Uzbekistan, give us all strength,” said the head of our state.
