The ruling states that the examination did not confirm the validity of the minister's complaint and that more than 1.5 years have passed since the controversial post was published.
Earlier in Kapital.uz, it was reported that the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs against financier Otabek Bakirov.
The reason for the complaint was his statements regarding the condition of the Sagbon substation, which provides electricity to the Almalyk district of Tashkent and the Tashkent region. The minister believed that the post contained insults and defamatory statements about him and demanded that action be taken against the author. The publication was made on June 5, 2023.
Bakirov added that the complaint was filed six days after the minister participated in the Lolazor podcast, in which the economist also took part. He expressed the opinion that the minister's actions aim to suppress criticism and establish censorship in the energy sector, rather than addressing existing issues.
